Iceland Hill Rally – What To Expect

The Tata Elxsi Defender Rally Series by Bowler heads to the land of ice and fire for Baja Round 4. The Iceland CanAm Hill Rally is where majestic landscapes meet adrenaline-pumping rally action, in one of the most exhilarating off-road events in the world. The event showcases the extraordinary beauty of Iceland, while challenging skilled drivers to conquer rugged terrains.

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, Iceland is a geological wonderland characterised by its volcanic landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and dramatic glaciers and this diverse terrain provides the ideal setting for a high-octane rally adventure. Known as the “Land of Ice and Fire,” Iceland’s unique combination of extreme weather and scenic beauty sets the stage for an unforgettable motorsport experience.

The roots of the Iceland CanAm Hill Rally trace back to the early 2000s when a group of passionate motorsport enthusiasts decided to create a rally event that would challenge drivers to their limits while showcasing the breath-taking landscapes of Iceland. Over the years, the rally has evolved, attracting skilled drivers from around the world, eager to test their mettle on Iceland’s unforgiving terrains.
The Iceland CanAm Hill Rally is not for the faint of heart; the destination demands precision driving, unwavering focus, and nerves of steel. The rally route takes competitors through snow-covered mountains, rocky hills, and river crossings as they contend the constantly changing weather conditions and drivers must adapt to the challenges presented by the Icelandic wilderness.

However, this mix of terrain and weather is what Bowlers are built for, and these specially modified Defenders are more than capable of conquering the most demanding of conditions and are purpose-built to excel in this extreme environment. For the Bowler Teams, this event will present them with challenges they’ve not yet encountered on any of the previous rally stages, and as they tackle the 670km rally route this is sure to be a real test of endurance.

Drivers and Co-Drivers will need to call on everything they’ve learnt so far in their rally experience and training with Bowler, and the wider Bowler Teams will also be feeling the pressure with tight turnarounds for vehicle service and maintenance. But like every other rally, while it is a competition, it also fosters a sense of camaraderie among participants and the teams will be able to depend on each other for support as well as the shared passion for motorsport, adventure and exploration!

The event also attracts a diverse range of spectators, from motorsport enthusiasts to nature lovers, all united by their appreciation for the magnificence of Iceland and the adrenaline of off-road racing. Numerous vantage points along the route offer breath-taking views of the rally action against Iceland’s stunning backdrops and is sure to be an unforgettable experience for driver teams and spectators alike.
