PREPARATIONS FOR THE 2024 SEASON

Ahead of the exciting 2024 Season, the technician support team was expanded to support the needs of a larger field of entries, as this is the largest and most competitive Defender Rally Series yet.

The existing technician team warmly welcomed 10 new technicians and electricians for the upcoming season, and their training will continue to develop throughout the upcoming events. Regular full-day training sessions were held at JLR, with each one building on the lessons from the one before. They covered all the standard processes of what to expect during a live event and how to work together to complete tasks when pressed against strict timings.

The final session involved converting aspects of our donor training cars, and recapping all the tasks the technicians had completed over the previous weeks, to ensure they’re prepared for any eventuality.

Ashley Vaughan, Event Technical Support Lead, commented,

“I am really proud of everything we have achieved over the course of our training; the enthusiasm for people to learn and improve has been amazing. The commitment from the existing team to welcome and embrace the new members really shows that we have cultivated not only a highly effective team, but a really cohesive group who are prepared to stick together when the pressure and demands of the sport really test them. We are well prepared to take on the biggest season yet, with plenty of returning crews and many new ones, the technicians are eager for the season to start and I’m confident they’ll handle all scenarios.”

The first racing event in the calendar is 3^rd March, where Walters Arena plays host to Round 1 of both the UK and EU Baja Championships on the same day, at an exclusive event dedicated to the Defender Rally Series.
